I know people keep chanting the holy mantra of “Women make 48% of game industry.” They often conveniently forget to tell you that that those females are dominant in mobile and casual games. Not the AAA industry.

It’s hard to take an analysis like OP’s seriously when it introduces media critics by calling them “hipsters with degrees in cultural studies” which is an ad hominem and establishes a flimsy pretense on why you should disagree with them, not to mention the blatantly condescending tone she uses throughout when paraphrasing their arguments.
That said, this is a worthy watch for the studies in the first half of the video which makes the point of male gamers (of the hardcore sort that are totally immersed in gamer culture, spending 20+ hours a week playing vidya, not the casual sort) outnumbering female gamers 7 to 1. The second half, however, is conjecturepalooza.
